THE FULL STORY

“The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take it away from you”

                                                                                                                           -B.B King

While having an experience of over 25 years as a freelance guitarist, it’d be rather unfair to associate Sameep Swadia only with his 4 and 6-string companions. With his passion for music and eclectic understanding of diverse music genres, he is deeply committed to enhancing the musicality and the required skill set of budding musicians – to make them better guitarists AND musicians!

Sameep (now ex-Superintendent of Customs & GST after 27 years of service) hails from a family of ardent admirers of music lovers and trained musicians, which facilitated his growth in the direction of music right from the start. As a result, he is able to extensively incorporate the intricacies of Hindustani music and Gayaki in his guitar playing.

Get to Know Me

As a Trainer

His first stint as a guitar trainer began in 1992, when he joined the Gayatri Sangeet Vidhyalaya of Rajkot. Across his 3-year tenure there, he trained 500+ students and helped them gain invaluable musical insights.

Right from the start, he had the clarity of nurturing both musical understanding and its application and demonstration on the stage of his students – a large chunk of the students went on to successfully perform on the stage in a professional capacity.

In 1999, he shifted to Ahmedabad and quickly made his name here, both in the domains of musical training and live performance. His remarkable stint in Ahmedabad as a trainer consists of direct experience with numerous students, a 7-year experience as a Guitar Instructor in one of the top music academies of the city, and more.

On the Stage

Sameep’s experience as a musician and performer is as remarkable as his trainer one. This side of his journey was initiated in 1993, when he started working as a music composer & arranger for leading Garba folk dance groups.

Remarkably, in the same year, he performed at the distinguished Netaji Indoor Stadium of Kolkata (Navratri Star Nights Festival). He has since  performed at large-scale Navratri shows across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and other parts of India. Some of his most notable performances came with the legendary Shyamal–Saumil group, with which he performed in traditional Navratri festivals for more than 12 years.

In over 25 years of experience with bass guitar, his 4-string friend, Sameep has performed with various playback singers. These names include legendary playback singers, bands and celebrities

Sameep’s interest and knowledge of different music genres have also led him to perform at various shows and events related to Bollywood, Ghazals, fusion, devotional music, and more. Since 2014, he has been a part of a renowned retro Bollywood music Orchestra and has also performed with the established as well as upcoming modern Bollywood fusion bands of Ahmedabad across India.

When not performing, recording, or helping students with guitar, he also attends music shows as a judge to encourage them. His latest experience here was his role as a part of a special panel of judges for light music category during the Youth Festivals – Government of Gujarat.
